The Garden of Alice

The U.S. premier of Elizabeth Raum’s opera The Garden of Alice in 2022 is a journey down the digital rabbithole of virtual realities and identities, and one woman’s quest for truth within a darker, internet version of Wonderland. This piece is neither critical nor blindly accepting of the many faces of the digital web – instead, it seeks to uncover and investigate the layers hidden behind them.
Currently in development under the direction of Attilio Rigotti, the show will premier in late spring of 2022. The show is being produced by City Lyric Opera and Orsolya Szantho, Irene Mercadal, and Karina Hyland are all on the design team.
